AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL QUARTERS PROGRAM SAN ANTONIO MISSIONS NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK QUARTER LAUNCH CEREMONY

The America the Beautiful Quarter Launch Ceremony is hosted by the National Park Service and the United States Mint. The free event will include an exchange of $10 rolls of newly minted San Antonio Missions quarters after the ceremony. The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park quarter is the 49th release in the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program, a 12-year initiative that honors 56 national parks and other national sites. Each year until 2020, the public will see five new national sites depicted on the reverses (tails sides) of the America the Beautiful Quarters. A final coin will be released in 2021. The United States Mint is issuing these quarters in the order in which the national sites were officially established.

MUSIC AND MOVIE UNDER THE STARS

Guests can enjoy an evening of Music and Movie Under the Stars, featuring live entertainment and the one-hour documentary of “The National Parks of Texas: In Contact with Beauty.” Celebrate our local heritage with food, music, and fun, and connect with our military historians and veterans to learn about our city’s rich military history. This free family-friendly event will be filled with fun interactive activities, pop-up vendors, food trucks, and refreshments. Hosted by the National Parks Conservation Association, Mission Heritage Partners, City of San Antonio Military Affairs Office and the World Heritage Office.

Tour de Las Misiones is a one of a kind opportunity to visit and learn about the historic San Antonio Missions. This Bike Ride Tour, Walk and Run will feature tour guide escorts. All events will begin and end at Mission Park Pavilion #1. Registered participants are guaranteed to receive a commemorative bib, passport and t-shirt.

The fun isn’t over at the finish line! Immediately following Tour de Las Misiones Bike Ride Tour, Walk, and Run, participants and the surrounding community can enjoy music, food, and refreshments. Mission Pachanga celebrates San Antonio’s unique heritage and culture, past and present. This family-friendly event will be filled with fun interactive activities, local bike and pop-up vendors, food trucks, and refreshment will be available to purchase.
