Join the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office for the 6th Annual World Heritage Festival, September 8-12, 2021! The World Heritage Festival is an annual collaborative event to celebrate and promote the San Antonio Missions, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and raise funds to preserve, promote, and connect.

The City of San Antonio World Heritage Office and its collaborative partners invite media and the community to join the official announcement of the 2021 World Heritage Festival schedule and event highlights. The event will include invited guest speakers, special cultural performances, and details on this year’s festival as a preview of what attendees can expect at the 6th Annual World Heritage Festival.

Blue Star Contemporary along with Darmstädter Sezession present an evening of short films by artists. Celebrate contemporary art from these two sister cities and enjoy meeting artists, hands on art kits, food trucks, and refreshments. Videos included in the program were selected through competitive open calls held by each organization. From a shortlist of artists, one San Antonio artist will be awarded $5,000 and announced at Thursday’s event.

The City of San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation’s popular event Restored by Light returns to Mission San Jose with family-friendly activities and entertainment.  Bring a picnic or enjoy snacks from the available food truck vendors.  At dark, the façade of Mission San Jose will be restored to its original frescoed appearance using projection technology illumination. Celebrate our local heritage with food, music, and fun.

Tour de Las Misiones is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to visit and learn about the historic San Antonio Missions. This Bike Ride Tour, Walk and Run will feature tour guide escorts. All events will begin and end at Mission Park Pavilion #1.  Registered participants are guaranteed to receive a commemorative bib, passport and T-shirt. Registration is available on the tour event page.

Bike Ride Tour
The Bike Ride Tour will kick off with an organized 7, 14 or 22 mile bike ride tour of the southside of San Antonio and The Alamo, stopping at each of the missions. Registration fees:  Adults 18 and over are $35 per person, youth 12-17 are $20 and youth 11 and under are $15. 

5K and 10K Run
The run will start with an organized chipped timed race where registered participants will enjoy a 5K or 10K run through the scenic San Antonio River Walk: Mission Reach, San José and the southside of San Antonio.  Registration fees:  Adults 18 and over are $30 per person, youth 17 and under $15.

Registered participants will enjoy an organized 5K or 10K walk through the scenic San Antonio River Walk: Mission Reach and Mission San José. Registration fees:  Adults 18 and over are $25 per person, youth 12-17 are $15 and youth 11 and under are free.

MUSIC AND MOVIE UNDER THE STARS

Guests can enjoy an evening of Music and Movie Under the Stars. Celebrate our local heritage with food, music, and fun, and connect with our military historians and veterans to learn about our city’s rich military history. This free family-friendly event will be filled with fun interactive activities, pop-up vendors, food trucks, and refreshments.
